A Sweet Story of Romance, Redemption, and God’s Unfailing Love

November 05, 20252 min read

If you’re looking for a good fall book that’s not only super cute and sweet but also deeply rooted in faith and self-discovery, this is the read for you.

The Rules of Falling For You by Mollie Rushmeyer shares a beautiful message in this new release and I think you will love it just as much as I did.

I recently finished a charming novel that blends Regency-era romance with modern-day dreams, and I was super impressed. I don't read a lot of Christian romance novels, so reading this and receiving a good message on faith and God, completely melted my heart. It's the BEST kind of romance novel if you ask me.

The story follows Zoe Dufour, a podcaster who’s built her brand around old-fashioned rules for love. She heads to a Regency-themed singles retreat, checklist in hand, determined to find her perfect gentleman and to prove a point. But God, as always, has a better plan.

Enter Harrison Lundquist.....an unlikely suitor in her mind. He is her podcast producer, her best friend’s brother, and the last person she expects to challenge her heart. He’s skeptical, grumpy, and totally unimpressed by Zoe’s romantic ideals, which is not who SHE was looking to make an impact in her life. But as he films her retreat experience, something shifts......and it’s not just between them, it’s within Zoe herself.

This isn’t just a romance between two people. It’s also a tale of God's love and learning to let go and let God. It's about releasing control and making space for Him to step in. Zoe’s journey is one many of us can relate to, trying to follow all the “right” steps while missing the deeper invitation to trust.

The characters are relatable and likeable, and I think you will fall in love with them as much as you will the story.

One of my favorite quotes from the book is this:

“While people, even people I love deeply, can disappoint and betray me, God never will.” Zoe

That line stopped me in my tracks. It’s the heartbeat of the story. The reminder that God’s love is steady, even when others fall short. That He’s the one who writes the most beautiful love stories, especially when we surrender our own scripts.

This story is filled with humor, heart, and hope. It’s clean, wholesome, and perfect for fans of rom-coms with a deeper message. If you love best friend’s brother tropes and a little sunshine-meets-grump dynamic, you’ll adore this one.

But more than that, you’ll walk away reminded that God is the ultimate Author......and His love never fails.
